Enjoy Troy

Downtown Troy

Modern Body Art , 54 N Pearl, Albany NY

November 15, 2023

Hello again all from Troy NY, ya boy is back with a few updates since we first moved from Florida. Tattooing seems to set itself right no matter where we are in the world. Almost like a universal language.

Modern Body Art, in downtown Albany, is my new home base. Consisting of several artists and a piercer, it’s nice to be in a walk-in street style shop again. Sometimes busy, sometimes slow, and always I’m working towards rebuilding my clientele in a new area. The weather is beautiful, the cuisine impeccable, public transportation is my best friend and and quality of life seems to have improved drastically. With nearby venues and colleges all around, there is always something to do or somewhere to go, if I’m not working. Unfortunately for my social life, tattooing is my favorite thing to do.

I took the little man Isaac to Florida for 8 days to see his brother and other family and to take care of my clients who patiently awaited my return. After a solid 8 bookings, beach, soccer, and family time, we were both glad to be back “home.” 2 months was enough for all of us to feel settled in.

After a long days work I can now come home, enjoy some herbal therapy, play some Nintendo with wifey and paint while she makes custom engraved Linocut prints until the sun comes up or we pass out. Whichever comes first. More travels and stories to come including the introduction of my new company and tattoo gear reviews /news. Until next time, I think I’ll go enjoy Troy.

FL to NY

A day in the life of Branny the tattooer.

August 10, 2023

Most of you that know me, have probably heard that me and the fam are moving this month to upstate NY. A lot of you may not know why though. Why NY Branny? Isn’t your shop (The Fat Tiger) and all your clientele here in central Florida?

The answer is yes and no. Yes ALL of my tattoo clientele is here in Florida and no my shop is now closed and reopening under a new name with my homie running the show. To answer the previous question why NY, because Florida has become more of a shit-show than we can handle. Wages are low, housing and inflation are extremely high, schools and new school rules are shit, women’s and lgbtq+ rights have been thrown out the window, and racism has been written into laws.

In order to protect my family, a change of scenery and political climate is very much needed. My partner Kaila of almost 6 years has healthcare, rights, and access to better jobs where we’ll be living which happens to be her hometown. Friends, family, and an atmosphere for flourishing mental health stability is all we could ever ask for. Healthcare and better schooling will be available for the kiddos which is convenient considering our youngest, Isaac will be starting school this September.

Unfortunately, my oldest son Jerry will sadly not be joining us as of yet due to his mother (my ex wife) refusing for him to leave the state. I’ll be doing my best to travel back and forth to visit my son and to take care of Florida clientele who have made my career one worth having and who have helped me care for my family.

New York is a big opportunity for us and for me to start fresh with my artwork in a new city and state. My connections in the city will most definitely broaden my education and experience. The plan is to get our feet on the ground so we can start traveling. Seeing the world and working in other countries with other cultures is my bucket list and I plan to bring the family along for the ride.

As of right now, I’m taking Florida appointments up until my stuff is packed and in a truck (which we’re still saving for) at the end of August. Kaila has driven up herself to sign the lease in person and to get the keys while I tattoo and hang with the kiddos. I am also now booking appointments for September in Troy. Holla atchya boy and feel free to donate to our moving fund (link below). We appreciate everyone’s support and I’ll keep you updated daily on this blog about everything as it unfolds. Cheers.

The new digs.
